Youth for Youth

Introduction

In a transitional scenario like the current one, traditional hierarchies disintegrate to make way for new systems. Capacity building now focuses on collaborative learning and co-creation of innovative structures, rather than on the simple transfer of knowledge. This can contribute to the emergence of a new system of influence.

The “Youth for Youth” program is an education initiative in sustainability and circularity, oriented towards creative economies. Its objective is to empower young people aged 16 to 25 with educational material, practical tools and a digital platform, to act as agents of change through regenerative models.

We bring together students from all over the world, offering them the opportunity to acquire skills and exchange ideas to boost sustainability and the circular economy. Participants have access to activities and events that promote more transparent and fair industries, becoming part of a systemic change that promotes human rights and the protection of nature.

At Hecho por Nosotros, we have developed the report “Culture, Consumption and Circularity: Rethinking the future of fashion”, which addresses the environmental impact of fashion, the importance of the Circular Economy model and conscious consumption, as well as cultural preservation. With this project, we seek to raise awareness among young people about the socio-environmental impact of the linear model and motivate them to modify their consumption habits to achieve systemic change.

Our
work

Through “Youth for Youth”, we focus on collaboration between young people to become agents of change in the creative industries. Led by young people and for young people, we offer educational materials, practical tools and an interactive digital platform, fostering a movement towards more responsible and environmentally friendly industries.

We actively collaborate in the creation of a new system of influence, promoting the joint construction of knowledge. We hold workshops, talks and events where young people acquire skills on circular economy, conscious consumption and cultural preservation. This year we participated in the UN High Level Political Forum, presenting the “Digital Innovation for Sustainable Consumption: Empowering Youth for a Greener Future” lab, as well as in events such as the Triple Impact Meeting at FADU and the Buenos Aires Environmental Festival.

Why it matters

Current fashion has a significant impact on the environment and communities. In this context of change, it is crucial that young people get involved in building a more balanced and sustainable system. “Youth for Youth” offers young people the opportunity to rethink their relationship with fashion, promoting the circular economy and cultural preservation. We inspire participants to transform their consumption habits and be the voice of change towards a more ethical and sustainable future.
