Leyendas

Throughout 2023, Hecho por Nosotros launched the Ancestral Legends Recovery Project to promote a paradigm shift towards sustainable fashion. With the aim of reconnecting with the voices of peoples who lived in harmony with nature, we created an interdisciplinary work group to identify areas of research and creative experimentation. In this way, we came into contact with different materials and selected some legends that spoke to us: the rainbow legend of the Kichwa Puruhá people, the Coquena legend of the peoples of the highlands, and several legends from different origins that included the figure of the weaver. Reconnecting with this ancestral knowledge allowed us to reconsider our identity in a more complex and complete way and helped us rethink our view of the current way of life. Over the months, in the meetings we shared findings, translated texts, rewrote and recreated the materials from different artistic disciplines as a form of creative dialogue with these traditions. We are convinced that in the articulation of this knowledge with technological innovation there is a possible path to regeneration. In 2024, our journey converged on a poetic/pictorial reinterpretation of these legends, which took the form of a poem and an illustration. With these materials we designed brochures and digital content to share this work. We are also working to generate educational materials based on what we have achieved.
