Gender
Introduction
Hecho por Nosotros (HxN) is a leading organization committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal #5 (SDG 5) – Gender Equality. With a primary focus on the empowerment of women and girls, the organization has made significant strides in promoting gender equality around the world. Through collaborations with local and international organizations, HxN supports and, on multiple occasions, leads campaigns and projects that promote gender equality and the rights of women and girls. The gender team has focused primarily on training and research projects to meet this goal. To do so, it relies on the HxN toolkit that provides training and resources to increase the capacities of women artisans in Latin America. Additionally, it has built important alliances with academic and research institutions with which it seeks to identify key problems in the aspects of gender equality and women’s rights, research them, and carry out evidence-based solutions. This multifaceted approach is the backbone of the team and the organization in general.
Key Takeaway
The HxN research, published in the Research Notebooks, coordinated by Adriana Marina, founder of HxN and animaná, was carried out together with Ximena López, Natalia Bertinelli and Catalina Ospina, members of the gender team at Hecho por Nosotros. This study focused on the impact of the digital training tool called "Toolkit", focusing on gender equity and the empowerment of women artisans in Nueva León, Mexico. Through training related to the textile and fashion sector, the research demonstrated how the implementation of the Toolkit contributed to strengthening the autonomy and skills of these women, underlining the relevance of the initiative to advance gender equity in the region. For the gender team, these investigations are fundamental, as they provide concrete evidence of the effectiveness of the team's programs and guide future actions.
